Feb 2020 Books of the Month
Hi! Today, we'll be going through our February 2020 BotM picks!
Ben-
I picked the Zeroes trilogy by Scott Westerfeld for my Feb 2020 Book of the Month. In it, a group of teens with strange powers (and are all born in 2000) try to make contact with a long-lost friend (and a very lost friend) to try to stop various fiends from doing evil all over America.
I like this series because while it is filled with action, Westerfeld also explored the backstories and dynamics of the Zeroes themselves. This all blends together to make a story on par with Westerfeld's other books.
Max-
My February BotM pick was Level 13 by Gordon Korman, but, that is the second book in the series so I will tell you why I liked the first book, Slacker.
Slacker, by Gordon Korman, follows a boy named Cam who is absolutely, positively, surely lazy. Extremely lazy. And obsessed with video games. O b s e s s e d. But sometimes, his antics cause serious problems. Including the fire department breaking down the door because of baked ziti. After those incidents, Cam's parents tell him that if he doesn't actually do something vaguely school-ly, they will take away his video games. NOOOO!!! So, Cam starts the Positive Action Group, or the P.A.G. Join Cam as he tries to play video games and pretend that is is totally into the P.A.G., and his "Paggers" really think he's so great. Also, watch him as he tries to beat his video game rival, EvilMcKillPeople.
