March 2020 Books of the Month

Yo yo, what up! Today we’ll be taking a looksie at our March 2020 Books of the Month.

I chose the Andromeda Strain duology by Michael Crichton and Daniel H. Wilson (entirely separately), which documents a really weird and really deadly plague.

In the first book, The Andromeda Strain, all but two people (an old man and a baby... what do they have in common?) in the tiny town of Piedmont, Arizona, die suddenly. A highly secretive government team — Project Wildfire — takes a look at the plague to see what happened... and what they find is literally out of this world. It may sound like a bad sci-fi novel, but it’s actually a good sci-fi novel with action sprinkled in! (And how could it be bad? Crichton also wrote Jurassic Park.) Wilson’s offering, The Andromeda Evolution, is just as good, with an even more threatening disaster and a villain to hate. Overall, these two books are a must read for anyone who likes sci-fi, or doesn’t like sci-fi.

My March 2020 BotM was The Zeroes trilogy by Scott Westerfeld, but since Ben already told of its greatness, I am going to do some author recommendations!

  • Marie Lu - Great YA fiction writer! Try out Legend!
  • James Dashner - Creativity galore! Try The 13th Reality!
  • Margaret Peterson Haddix - If you ever think you read an ultra-surprising plot twist, she writes more amazing ones! Try Running Out of Time and you'll see what I mean!
  • Louis Sachar - He writes serious (Holes) and hilarious (Wayside School). I mean how!
  • Neal Shusterman - Okay, he writes great dystopias and awesome utopias and amazing kind of dystopian utopian dystopias and... OMG BEST AUTHOR EVA!!1!
